There’s unbelievable hostility to the safety net programs from the right (and toward the people who need the). Orrin Hatch maligned kids who need healthcare as freeloaders.

How much of the large functions of government do they want to get rid of. Hard to say, since they don’t come right out with numbers. Credit to Norquist for having the balls to put some actual numbers on it (but he’s not an elected official, so it’s easier).
