But in the last Congress there were also 25 Republican House cosponsors on a resolution (H.Res. 195) saying climate change is real and Congress should take action. And there were 45 Republican members of the Climate Solutions Caucus. And there were two carbon pricing bills introduced by Republicans (by Reps Curbelo, Rooney, and Fitzpatrick). This is all true…and yet, when there was a dumb House resolution “Expressing the sense of Congress that a carbon tax would be detrimental to the United States economy,” exactly 6 of those 45 members of the GOP Climate Caucus votes Nay.
So, technically, GOP opposition is not monolithic, as you say…but it’s pretty darn close. Of course I hope you’re right. Just saying, we’re out of time to wait for the GOP to wake up. So they either get on board or we should work to vote them all out.
